While most people’s first reaction to a storm would be to find shelter, Mike Olbinski has fallen in love with the thrill of chasing them with a video camera, and the product is breathtaking. Olbinski, a storm-chasing wedding photographer and father of 3 from Arizona, drove over 10,000 miles through 10 states. Over 2 weeks, he collected remarkable footage of summer storms and cloud formations.

After time-lapsing approximately 45,000 frames of storm footage, he created his popular video The Chase, and described it as “one of the best experiences of [his] life.” The summers in Arizona bring the monsoon thunderstorms, and they are a blast to chase. We get amazing clouds, awesome dust storms and serious amounts of lightning. I have an extensive gallery of storm imagery from around the state, as well as time-lapse photography which has become a true passion of mine.
